Tarkett - Tecsom Carpet Tiles [BLP]

Overview:

Tarkett offers a range of ultra-low VOC carpet tiles in various colours, constructions and designs, which have been certified by the Good Environmental Choice Australia (GECA) ecolabel. Suitable for commercial and industrial applications.

Product Description:

The Tecsom carpet tile concept offers a wide range of colours, constructions and designs. The use of Jetprint technology can offer a range of customised designs and colours.  A select range of Tecsom carpet tiles have been GECA certified.

Tecsom ranges comprise a 100% recycled PVC Backing System, reinforced with glass fibre. The backing promotes improved acoustic performance, flexibility and tear resistance (manufacturer claim), and contributes to the fact that Tecsom carpet tiles initially are constructed of over 60% recycled materials. Tecsom carpet tiles carry the ‘Red Book’ accreditation for environmental performance under the British Research Establishment (BRE), and Tarkett claims Tecsom are the only carpet tile to have a 100% recycled backing system.

Tecsom Carpet tiles also feature 100% solution dyed polyamide and technical yarns (see Glossary), making them resistant to traffic, light fastness and wear. Significant water savings are achieved in the production of solution dyed yarns in comparison to ‘stock’ or ‘hank’ dyed solutions. These yarns are used to create three different textures of material: loop-pile, cut-pile and structured

Ecospecifier Issues Of Concern / Red Lights

The product contains polyamide fibres but is not an issue of concern as it is non carcinogenic to humans.

The product contains Antimony Trioxide used as a fire retardant.  This is classified as possibly carcinogenic to humans by the IARC.  However it is not considered a risk as it is only present in the backing system, and therefore no chance of dust inhalation by users.

The product contains acrylic which may cause occupational risks, however these are considered to be of low risk due to systems in place to minimise these during manufacture.
