LETObamboo Bamboo Boards are high quality, high density bamboo products, with strand woven styles scoring 16.1 kN (high ranking group) on the Janka Hardness Scale, and narrow and wide grain bamboo products falling into medium ranking group (6.6 kN and 5.9 kN respectively). The products incorporate low-VOC and low-formaldehyde adhesive, require a minor final sanding and are ready to be finished.
LETObamboo Bamboo Boards are used for wall and ceiling cladding, partitions, internal and cabinet doors, dining and occasional tables, kitchen and bathroom joinery, fitted and loose cabinetry of all styles, stair treads, lighting, counter tops, shop-fitting of all types, interior signage, laser-cut projects etc.
Bamboo is a sustainable, fast growing, rapidly renewable alternative to timber sourced from old growth or plantation forests. Bamboo is a grass that can be harvested every 4-5 years (some species grow 18m in 90 days) in contrast to 40-60 years for hardwoods. Research suggests that bamboo may have equivalent or greater carbon sequestration capacity than conventional timber (Lou, Y.P., Y.X. Li, K.C. Buckingham, G. Henley, and G.M. Zhou. 2010. Bamboo and Climate Change Mitigation. Beijing: INBAR). For LETObamboo boards, only Moso bamboo (Phyllostachys Pubescens) is used due to its dense fibres.
