A subsurface storm water detention or retention system.
Rainstore is an underground
stormwater storage system, allowing retention or detention of any
volume of water. Rainstore is a free-form structure,
manufactured from 100% recycled polypropylene, encased in a plastic
liner. The structure can be as shallow as 0.1m deep, and as
deep as 2.5m, with any length or width in 1m increments. The
structure has a void area of 94% to maximise storage capacity,
however its intrinsic strength makes it suitable for use under
heavy vehicle traffic areas.
The structure can be used for water retention
and storage by the use of an impervious liner. Another application
is water detention by the use of a porous liner, which controls the
timing of water exit to suit the site constraints in conservation
and civil works.
Rainstore aids in reducing the
reliance on water catchment areas, and is useful in areas with
little space or where the visual disturbance of a conventional
water tank is unwanted.
