Product Detail

Overview

Composite decking material made from the majority recycled hardwood sawdust and recycled/virgin polypropylene with Microban treatment for low maintenance and high durability. Suitable for outdoor residential and commercial applications.

CorrectDeck CX is made from the same constituents as CorrectDeck (recycled hardwood fibre (sawdust) and virgin and reclaimed polypropylene). However CX undergoes a manufacturing process in which a protective layer with antimicrobial protection is built in. This layer is composed of scratch, stain and antimicrobial additives incorporated into a hard polypropylene shell that caps the decking.

Decking range is treated with Microban, a widely used antibacterial agent that prevents the growth of microbes such as bacteria, mold and mildew. The active ingredient of Microban is Triclosan - see Issues of Concern. The product's protective layer with Microban treatment increases its durability and creates reduces its maintenance requirements.

As with CorrectDeck, polypropylene makes the decking stronger, stiffer and lighter than other composite wood products. As such it can experience higher temperatures with minimal expansion and contraction. Product carries a 25 year limited warranty, reflecting its good durability properties.

The product's composition does not absorb moisture, therefore water sealers are not required. Product also exhibits good weathering resistance, avoiding the need for surface treatments in many exterior applications.

Product is available in a variety of sizes and lengths and in six colours. The lumber used exhibits less rigidity than wood lumber, however it can bear greater loads with little creep. Product is not recommended for structural purposes, such as load bearing walls.
