INTEGRATED DESIGN AND POLICY ISSUES

Versiclad’s Structural Insulated Roof Panels contain a fire-retardant EPS core which offers high R values up to RT 5.0, reducing radiant heat transfer, mould, condensation and rain noise.

Versiclad’s Structural Insulated Roof Panels offer a minimum roof pitch of only 1 degree for Spacemaker and 3 degree for Corrolink-S and Double Corrolink-S. With a 1 metre cover width, installation time is minimal with Versiclad’s lightweight panels. Options to install solar panels is also possible with Versiclad’s Structual Insulated Roof Panels.

HUMAN HEALTH

Health

VOC test reports have been provided for adhesive and foam, and there are no VOC present on these ingredients; However, VOCs are present in the raw paint products and no overall VOC product test has been provided. For more information about issues of concern, please refer to ESCAP section below.

Comfort

Versiclad’s Structural Insulated Roof Panelsare available in a range of light colours, which provide lower solar absorbance (0.32), this leads to indoor thermal comfort, energy savings and GHG emissions improvement.

Indoor Environment Quality

Versiclad’s Fire retardant EPS insulated core, dramatically reduces mould, condensation and rain noise.

Versiclad’s Structural Insulated Roof Panelshave low VOC content; an average of 33.96 grams of total VOCs per m2 of finished product (roof panels) was reported. The VOC content is present in the paint, However, no VOCs were reported on the adhesives and foams used to manufacture the roof panels.

Physical – steel used in manufacturing process is Recycled; this is donethrough “Direct Metals”. For packaging, recyclable plastic shrinks are used, so there are not known relevant physical emissions reported.

Emissions –All Paints used by the supplier in the manufacturing process, should be used carefully to avoid dispersal of spilt material, run off and contact with soil, waterways, drains and sewers.

The outer skins need to be kept clear of harsh or corrosive chemicals or contact with incompatible materials including lead or copper or water run-off containing these elements, must also be kept clear of soil and debris build up. Must not be used within 200m of a marine source

Operational efficiency – Products have proved to reduce the transfer of radiant heat and in turn, can potentially reduce energy costs to cool and/or heat a building. Versiclad’s Structural Insulated Roof Panelsalso provide a wide range of colour options, which offer lower solar absorption levels, potentially further reducing energy costs for cooling.

The steel used in the product can be recycled. The products are also packaged using 100% recyclable plastics. The EPS foam can also be recycled.

Versiclad does not use any water to manufacture its panels.

Durability

Versiclad have been manufacturing and supplying structural insulated roof panels for over 20 years which are still in use today. The steel skins are provided with a 25 year warranty.

Reusability

Complete product can be re-used in its entirety, which would offer the same properties as above

Reparability

for product care, the outer skins need to be kept clear of harsh or corrosive chemicals or contact with incompatible materials including lead or copper or water run-off containing these elements, must also be kept clear of soil and debris build up. Must not be used within 200m of a marine source

The skins are generally a painted finish which allow for the skins to be re-painted if required.

If the external/top skin is damaged it may be possible to simply retro fit a single skin profiled roof sheet over the existing panels.

If there is no other option, a singular panel can be replaced without replacing the entire roof although some non-damaged panels may be required to be uninstalled and reinstalled during this process

Design for Disassembly

The product can be disassembled, this could be done by safely removing any flashings or screws and then removing the panels one at a time.

Recyclability

The EPS core can be stripped from the metal and adhesives where it can then be recycled at any one of the many eps recycling centers across Australia. The steel component can also be recycled; Versiclad recycles the steel component through Direct Metals.

Maintenance

The panel itself doesn’t require any structural maintenance if installed correctly.
