Dotmar’s NUVEX Saniboard is a polymer material especially developed for the sanitary market. NUVEX is designed for restrooms, toilets, partitions, bathroom partitions, cubicle systems, lockers, urinal screens and other wet area applications.

The product is durable and requires low maintenance, especially with waterproof and anti-graffiti properties. These features allow building owners and managers to reduce effort and/or expenditures on cleaning, replacement and repair.

ECOLOGICAL QUALITY

Terrestrial

Emissions – There are minor toxic emissions to land in the production of the constituent materials localised around production facilities

Physical – The high recycled content reduces landfill impacts. The remaining virgin polyethylene is petrochemical based, and will therefore have some limited physical pollution due to oil extraction

Aquatic

Emissions – Ethylene is produced in the initial production stage of polyethylene and the emissions to water consist of methanol and butane

Physical – The petrochemical portion of the virgin polyethylene content results in potential sea pollution in the extraction of spilling of oil. Other aquatic emissions include methanol and butane in the production of ethylene.

Atmosphere

Greenhouse gas (GHG) – The product contains recycled content, therefore reducing greenhouse intensity compare to fully virgin sourced products.

Greenhouse intensity The HDPE component of NUVEX has a greenhouse intensity of approximately 28kg CO2e/m2 for 19mm thick sheet and 36.85kgCO2e/m2 for 25mm thick sheet. Durability

NUVEX solid HDPE sanitary partitioning, cabinets and outdoor recreational components are extremely durable and outperform phenolic, laminates and metal products in almost every measure of durability. The material is impact and scratch resistant.

In the unlikely event of damage, the solid colour through the sheet results in scratches not being highly visible as opposed to traditional laminate and timber options. The material will also not delaminate or crack and.

The product has an expected minimum life of 18 years.

Reusability

The material, in sheet form or converted to any of the other end-user applications, can be fully recycled  or reprocessed as a sheet, or converted back into sheet form.

Reparability

Product is scratch resistant, shatterproof and will not break or delaminate. Under normal working conditions, repairs will not be required.

ECOSPECIFIER ISSUES OF CONCERN / RED LIGHT

Product has no known Issues of Concern. HDPE used to manufacture Saniboard is Categories by the IARC as Group 3 substance, “Not classifiable as to its carcinogenicity to humans”. This category is used for agents when the evidence of carcinogenicity is inadequate in humans and inadequate or limited in experimental animals.

Due to HDPE being a risk mainly when in powder form, Ecospecifier marks this substance as a potentially hazardous substance, however does not cause an Issue of Concern. The manufactures have also provided a Health and Safety policy, which covers the training of staff and the handling of hazardous chemicals.
