Products undergoing GreenTag
Certification
Green Tag® is a third party, green
building product rating and certification system, underpinned by
rigorous scientific and Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) processes. Its
advanced, robust LCA certification methodology developed
exclusively by ecospecifier, is a world first.
The Green Tag®
ecolabel rating positions a product within the top end of the green
product market enabling manufacturers to be able for the first time
to fully communicate the work they have undertaken to improve the
ecological and health benefits of their products.
"I have been involved in many
LCA projects in my time at Visy and am yet to find a Peer-Reviewed
LCA with so many indicators at such a
cost effective price. Given the right application, I believe
ecospeciifier could be engaged to undertake LCA
work for a broad range of products. The great labelling,
certification and marketing benefits could be seen as an added
bonus.
Whilst assessing and
understanding the carbon footprint of a product or system is
advantageous, especially in our current carbon
conscious environment, focussing solely on carbon as
an indicator can ignore and even increase the real and
potential impacts from a broader lifecycle
perspective. The assessment offered as part of the
GreenTag™ labelling program provides the opportunity to
obtain a detailed LCA at or below the price
of a single indicator LCA (carbon footprint) from many
consultants."
Brett Giddings,
Product Sustainability Manager, Visy
GreenTag®is
the new benchmark in green product certification.
It is an 'umbrella' system with two separate
Certification systems contained in the Standard.
Green
Tag® LCARate
A detailed life cycle assessment (LCA) rating of the
product compared to the worst case business as usual (BAU) product
commonly available on the market.
This rating is reflected by a Bronze,
Silver, Gold or Platinum tier
attainment.
Fully Audited LCA is recognised by a PLUS
designation within the logo.

LCARate is a world first program that is underpinned
by the world's first Building Information Modelling (BIM) based LCA
tool and enables industry wide rapid eco-profiling of buildings
using branded product LCA from Green
Tag®. BIM is the new driving force in
productivity in the building industry today and into the future.
LCADesign for ecospecifier will be the key
software tool driving rapid greenhouse calculation of buildings and
retail sector products.
LCARate is designed to be adopted by Government and Corporate
Codes and Green Purchasing Policy as well as Green Building Rating
Tools and retail displays. As each country or region wishes to
launch its own Green Tag® rating
system a bespoke Life Cycle Inventory is required. If this is of
interest, please contact the Green
Tag® Program Director.
